CityBusiness poll early results: Spend state surplus on coastal restoration

NEW ORLEANS - The Legislature meets Sunday to begin figuring out how to spend a roughly $1-billion state surplus.
CityBusiness readers have some suggestions.
A majority of voters to the Question of the Week posted Monday say the surplus should go toward coastal restoration and protection. A total of 113 voters, or 36.93 percent, chose that option.
A total of 306 votes were cast as of 10:40 a.m. today.
The option garnering the second highest amount of votes: education, with 66 votes, or 21.57 percent.
In other poll results:
- 50 voters, or 16.34 percent, chose "other";
- 34 voters, or 11.11 percent, chose "roads";
- 24 voters, or 7.84 percent, chose "hurricane recovery"; and
- 19 voters, or 6.21 percent, chose "health care."
